Chesterton: early deeds


Grant by Roger Legh and Matilda his wife to William Legh, of two shillings and fourpence annual rent, payable at Michaelmas and Lady Day by installments of fourteen pence and due from premises in Kingston, viz: messuage and quarter virgate with appurtenances which Geoffrey, son of Robert Shepherd (Bercarius) formerly held of us for 12d; 2 acres which the same Geoffrey formerly held for 1d; virgate of land which said Geoffrey formerly held of Margery of Coventry for 12d and a virgate of land in Kingston which William Arden of Radbourn formerly held for 3d. To hold the said rents to the said William, his heirs and assigns, with all wards, marriages, releifs, heriots c. taken with the said rents. For which grant William has already paid forty shillings.
