Stratford-upon-Avon Chronicle: Borough Police report, assault by Joseph Birch on Francis Birch

Stratford-upon-Avon Chronicle, February 22nd, 1884: Borough Police report, headed "Father and Son - Birch v.Birch - Another scene of the Birch drama", the case being an assault by Joseph Birch on his father, Francis Birch on 11th February, who was struck on the head with a jug and knocked "about a good deal". Mrs Birch was present. The Bench decided that although there had been some provocation, the defendant had no right to assault his father and he was fined 5s with costs, amounting in all to £1.13s.
