Francis Birch, deceased (died 26th August 1899, will proved August 1900) Original bundle of letters, accounts, agreements, and papers: includes two letters from Francis Birch about an insurance policy, 1899, letter from Nellie Smith (see no. 12/69), 20th Sept. 1899, on the penury of the members of Birch's family not mentioned in the will, of Jessie, "the one with the eye", for whom she got a ticket for treatment in Birmingham Hospital, and how her other sister is worse off than the writer; letter from Jane Birch at 14 Henley St thanking Mr Ashwin for letting her and her sister receive their rents so soon, 13th October 1899; booklet entitled "Butter Book" and "Mr Birch in account with T. T. Knight", but with only unused pages left; estimate for decorating, 1900; notice for the abatement of a nuisance at 43-47 Shakespeare St, 1907; accounts of debts owed at the death, 1899; Tiddington sale, 1900; Richard Gardner's account with Francis Birch for work done for Birch, 1882-1888, paid in 1900. Agreement of Sarah Gardner with the executors for the lease of the house, garden, yard, stable, and other outbuildings at the top of New St, Tiddington, with the two grass fields adjoining, being 11a 1r 16p for the sum of £28 pa, and to pay all rates and taxes, 26th November 1900, and to maintain her two sons, Francis and Oliver Birch, and pay the rent and taxes of the house and field she now occupies and provide keep for the chestnut mare for the sum of 30 shillings a week, 18th July 1900. Sale advertisement of nos. 5-7 and 25-28 Meer St, 28th August 1900. Memorandum that Joseph Birch had £400 in the Old Bank and that his father drew it out, but JB signed the cheque on the understanding that he bought the Talbot Public House in Bull St, which he did not do but retained the money. The cheque was dated 4 March 1880.
