From chaos to the charter: a complete history of Leamington Spa

Bookplate of Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, identifiying as coming form the library of Richard Savage, Librarian of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, 1884-1910 Tipped in facing this are printed circular form T. B. Dudley to the Members of Guy's CLiffe Lodge of Oddfellows, dated February 6 1907, outlining his membership of and service to the Lodge since 1881, his declining health and straitened financial circumstances and requesting theri help. At the bottom he has written 'This circular which produced me only £4-10 is now withdrawn' Also tipped in is an autograph letter, dated 3 November 1907 from Dudley, at Belgrave Cottage, 3 Church Terrace, Leamington, to Richard Savage, outlining his age (71), failing health, reduced circumstances due to the closure of the paper on which he had been a journalist, his attempts to secure an income and the efforts of two clergyman to establish an endowment fund which has currently guaranteed him £24 per annum. He seeks Savage's help to raise this to £26, ensuring a weekly income of 10 shillings
