This pamphlet was produced to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth and the centenary of the German Shakespeare Society. It was presented by the Shakespeare Committee of the Democratic Republic of Germany to those gathered at Weimar on 23rd April 1964, and includes a four page facsimile of a letter from Schiller to Goethe dated 28th November 1797. It also includes a transcription in German and was part of a limited edition with 400 numbered copies. The copy at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is unnumbered.
