General note: This collection of essays wishes to honour the extraordinary achievements of Prof. em. Dr. Wolfgang Weiss as one of the most learned, widely-read and internationally highly acclaimed professors of English in Germany over a period of about 40 years (in addition to serving as director of the Shakespeare Research Library in Munich and, for many years, as editor of the Shakespeare Jahrbuch). Wolfgang Weiss has never wanted a Festschrift, but the editors with their contributors felt that is was high time to congratulate an outstanding scholar and academic teacher on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Our essays pay respect to Wolfgang Weisss major fields of research and teaching, that is, first of all Shakespeare and the Early Modern Period, satire, and campus novels; and they cast fresh light on numerous exciting and new aspects. Contributors include: Paul Edmondson, Wolfgang Frühwald, Andreas Höfele, Dieter Mehl, Ulrich Suerbaum, Günter Walch, Stanley Wells, and Richard Wilson. Formatted contents note: Portraits of Shakespeare / Stanley Wells and Paul Edmondson. Uk-SuSCL.
