Silver City of London School Shakespearian prize medal

Description

A silver medal designed by Benjamin Wyon, being the City of London school prize. The medal was won in 1876 by G.A.J. Cole, who presented the medal to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. These medals were seldom awarded, only four having been given between 1853 and 1885., 1922 catalogue entry - 'Shakespearian prize medal of the City of London School; silver; 1876'.
