Description

Three of a set of nine decorative Liverpool tiles with red transfer print designs depicting theatrical performers of the late 18th century; set in a wooden frame; Mr Bensley as Mahomet in Miller's play of the same name; Miss P. Hopkins as Lavinia in 'Titus Andronicus' (from a print in Bell's 'Shakespeare' signed 'J. Roberts' and dated 6 Mar 1776) and Mr. Smith as Lord Townley in Colley Cibber's 'The Provok'd Husband'.
