Medal and rosette

Description

Medal and rosette, 1769. Commemorative medal from the Garrick Jubilee, attached with fine twisted cord to silk ribbon rosette, woven in coloured 'rainbow' stripes with the word 'Shakespeare' woven in cream. The medal came in a wooden box made from a mulberry tree planted by Shakespeare and cypress tree planted by Mr and Mrs Garrick. The box contains documentation related its original contents.
