English jug

Description

An English jug, most probably late fourteenth century; cast bronze; bulbous form with pointed spout; the upper part of the handle has traces of the original hinge attachment for the lid, now missing, the handle was a separate casting, either bronzed or soldered into place; the casting of the body just below the handle is thin and consequently there is a hole worn at this point.
