Description

Mid 19th century Shakespeare tercentenary medallion; yellow metal; in form of two eight-pointed stars stars superimposed on each other to form a sixteen-pointed star, the `back' of the points grooved; small suspension loop of twisted wire; obverse: bust of Shakespeare in relief, white metal, on stippled background disk free to turn under decorated rim; reverse: sepia photograph of Birthplace c.1864 during restoration; around rim reads 'SHAKESPEARE TERCENTENARY COMMEMORATION APRIL 23RD 1864'.
