Bag or purse
Description
Bag or purse, c. 1560-1600. Bag or purse, described as a 'sweet bag', and made from pink silk satin, embroidered with floral design in coloured silk threads and metal threads, with applied metal spangles/sequins. Bag fastens with drawstring cord of multi-coloured threads, threaded through eyelets running round top of bag, and finishing in acorn terminals and tassels of coloured and metal threads - one on each side. Long handle of same cord is attached to each side of bag. Bottom is trimmed with 3 small tassels worked from metal thread.
