Bartmannkrug

Description

A seventeenth-century Rhenish stoneware bartmannkrug; brown glazed; very stylised bearded human face on neck; oval medallion on body with crude floral decorative moulded design; handle attached to body rather roughly; at top of handle an attachment originally intended for lid, now missing, several flaws in glaze, chipped on base.
