Stoneware jug

Description

A 16th/17th century stoneware jug; white background with blue and yellow decoration; widely flared neck with holes pierced through; decorated around body with semi-abstract pattern; in centre bellow lip an oval yellow medallion with letters BEVI.MA.CE.LINGANO in black; yellow lip and base; neck pierced with holes fron shoulder to lip; hole inside body of jug seems to lead into hollow handle an emerges half way up handle which is attached base, runs up the side of the body an out to the rim; handle has a large chip missing; whole of top of jug reconstructed, possibly not accurately and painted over; glaze has blow-holes.
