Stoneware jug

Description

A 17th century stoneware Westerwald jug; greyish-white fabric with blue glaze picking out decorations; globular body with short wide neck and applied loop handle at neck; opposite handle on body a large rosette flanked by rampant lions, all picked out in blue; around shoulder, level with base of handle runs a row of disks picked out in blue; around neck at top of handle runs banding picked out with a double blue line.
