Bartmannkrug

Description

A 16th/17th century stoneware bartmannkrug; brown salt-glazed bulbous body with cylindrical neck; rings around neck; bearded mask on neck, crudely executed and with left side incomplete; immediately below mask, oval medallion (8 cm x 5.5 cm) decorated with shield, quartered with chevrons and lions, surmounted by crown.
