Deruta wet drug jar

Description

A Deruta wet drug jar; painted with laurel cartouche of drug name SY.D.RIBER (syrup of blackcurrant) and armorial badge (chevron with three gold balls); reverse with apothecaries label and date, 1564 RVB; bulbous with single handle and spout; pale grey background, black lettering, blue, yellow, green , yellow and ochre decoration; chipped on rim, various chips and cracks on body, one crack crudely mended; base cracked and infilled with plaster; paint discoloured where glaze cracked.
