Half-headed bedstead

Description

A bedstead with a headboard capped with a facing strip over a deep projecting moulding above two frieze panels carved with lunettes over three plain panels and with long stile feet; the bedstock with heavy side and foot rails, chamfered on the top inside edge and drilled and grooved for ropes, supported on plain foot posts with partially rounded tops; displayed with associated mat of woven rush; English, c.1680; capping strip and footposts replaced.
