Pair of Backstools

Description

Pair of backstools, each with an arched cresting carved with two S-scrolls centred on a tulip head; above three moulded slats on plain bottom rail; the uprights ending in scrolled finials; the single-plank seat above shallow seat rails; raised on baluster-turned legs and plain stretchers; English, c.1700; the seats cracked near the front edge and now screwed.
