Description

4th century Roman pile; elm wood and wrought iron; shaped timber with pointed iron shoe; shoe with four iron arms extending up timber, each with two iron nail holes (square); c. 320 A.D. (carbon dated, Aston); wood splitting. From Bidford Roman causeway/Icknield Street. One of 58 removed.
