Shakespeare's Birthplace and the Swan and Maidenhead Inn

Description

A watercolour painting of Shakespeare's Birthplace by Paul Braddon c. 1890, showing the brick front of the Swan and Maidenhead Inn; wooden frame, glazed. The main part of Shakespeare's Birthplace was used as the Swan and Maidenhead Inn until the mid-nineteenth century. Braddon probably used an earlier image of the Birthplace to create this painting as it shows the building in the first half of the 19th century, before he was born.
