Handwarmer

Description

An early nineteenth-century handwarmer; earthenware with mottled dark green glaze; wide flat base with wide pillar rising from it; pillar flaring widely at top to form shallow bowl, then narrowing to enclose it; pillar with heavily applied loop decoration; bowl with double-groove running around widest point and single line at neck, triangular cut-outs through sides and incised line-decoration; cracks runing from neck to cut-outs; many small chips; interior, neck and top surface are darkened.
