Description

Bust of Shakespeare, c.1769. A carved mulberry-wood bust of William Shakespeare by Henry Cooper. In two parts - the bust and circular base. The reverse of the bust is stamped 'SHAKESPEARS WOOD/T SHARP'. Written in ink on the reverse is 'H Cooper/de Stratford/fecit'. On the underside of the bust, written in ink, is the inscription 'Memento mori/Remember ye Mulberry tree/Shakespear's Jubilee at Stratford on/Avon 1769'.
