The mulberry tree that was planted in the front garden on the site of New Place in 1946. The tree was felled in 2013 so that further excavations could take place on the site.

This is one of 8 works by the artist that document the archaeological excavations on the site of New Place, 2010-2013. Spaak was a guide at Nash's House and New Place during the excavations and undertook the work as a response to the activity on the site. Spaak studied at the Royal College of Art in the 1960s under Peter Blake, Carel Weight and Roger de Gray. He is a professional artist and retired art teacher.
