This is one of 8 works by the artist that document the archaeological excavations on the site of New Place, 2010-2013. Spaak was a guide at Nash's House and New Place during the excavations and undertook the work as a response to the activity on the site. Spaak studied at the Royal College of Art in the 1960s under Peter Blake, Carel Weight and Roger de Gray. He is a professional artist and retired art teacher.
