A memorial to Sir Fordham Flower intended to raise money for a fund in his memory. Sir Fordham Flower had been chairman of the governors of the RST from 1944 to 1966. This first recital went under the title Shakespeare Birthday Recital, but was identical to the October performance at the Aldwych Theatre, London.
